Rev. David Wilkerson, author of The Cross and the Switchblade, founded the Teen
Challenge ministry in 1958. Appalachian Teen Challenge, Inc., which began in 1982, is a
Christ-centered, residential training center for young men with life controlling
problems, such as alcohol and/or drug addiction, anger management, etc. The
training center campus, located in Athens, West Virginia, is nestled among the
beautiful Appalachian Mountains. Students learn to overcome root problems that
have affected their ability to function effectively in society. They do so by
following a rigorous, regimented schedule in a well-structured, Christian
environment. The ministry primarily serves southern West Virginia, southwestern
Virginia, and the entire Appalachian Region. Appalachian Teen Challenge also
accepts applicants from all across the country.
Feel free to further explore the training center and meet our staff. The training section provides information regarding the work skills and ethics, academic, and spiritual training included in the program. Also, take a virtual tour of our facilities.
If you or a loved one is interested in enrolling in Appalachian Teen Challenge, you may visit the applicants page, where you will find information on the application process. |
